Tyson Chandler had multiple options when he entered free agency.

The 36-year-old center told the Los Angeles Times he had five teams interested in him after he was bought out by the Suns earlier this month. Chandler said he narrowed his choices down to the Lakers and the Warriors.

But Chandler ultimately decided to sign a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal with Los Angeles because he “could only see himself in a Laker uniform.”

Chandler has averaged three points and 8.3 rebounds in three games and made a major impact on the defensive end for the Lakers. Los Angeles star LeBron James told Yahoo Sports Chandler has been “huge” for the team.

“We knew we had a spot that needed some reassurance,” James said. “For us to get Tyson in the fashion that we got him and to be able to implement him right away and the impact that he’s made in these three games thus far, it’s great.”

The Lakers will return to the court when they face the Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
