The Mavericks are interested in adding a marquee free agent this offseason.
Dallas is hoping to sign either DeAndre Jordan, DeMarcus Cousins or Julius Randle, according to a report from The Ringer. The Mavericks are aiming to get “back on a winning track” in 2018-19, the report says.
Cousins enters free agency coming off a season in which he averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game with the Pelicans. But, he was limited to just 48 games after rupturing his left Achilles tendon in late January.
Jordan, who has spent all 10 of his NBA seasons with the Clippers, holds a $24.1 million player option for 2018-19. Jordan had verbally agreed to a max contract with Dallas as a free agent in 2015 before he backed out of the deal and re-signed with Los Angeles.
Randle averaged a career-high 16.1 points per game for the Lakers last season. He will be a restricted free agent this summer.
The Mavericks finished 2017-18 with a 24-58 record and missed the playoffs for a second straight season. Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki said in April he plans to return to the team in 2018-19.
