The Hawks are considering selecting Real Madrid's Luka Doncic with the No. 3 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, but he may never play a game in an Atlanta uniform.

The Hawks could pick Doncic and then trade him to the Mavericks, according to a report from Atlanta TV station WSB. Dallas would draft Oklahoma guard Trae Young at No. 5 and send him to Atlanta in that scenario.

Hawks guard Kent Bazemore could also be included in the deal, or in a separate trade, the report says. The report cited unidentified league sources.

The 19-year-old Doncic was a star in Europe in 2017-18. He was named the EuroLeague MVP and his Real Madrid team won the league title.

Young averaged 27.4 points and 8.7 assists per game as a freshman at Oklahoma last season.

The Suns are expected to take Arizona center Deandre Ayton with the first pick while multiple reports indicate the Kings will select Duke big man Marvin Bagley III No. 2 overall.

The Hawks finished last season with a 24-58 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2006-07.
