The Nuggets selected Missouri small forward Michael Porter Jr. with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Porter, a former top-3 high school recruit, missed most of 2017-18 — his freshman season with the Tigers — after undergoing back surgery in November.

Many teams balked at Porter due to long-term health risk, but the Nuggets decided pick No. 14 was a worthy spot to take a chance on a guy who could have gone No. 1 overall if fully healthy.

Porter, a 6-10 small forward, is an elite shooter who has the ability to create his own shot. Though he needs to add strength to reach his full potential, Denver could get a steal if his back checks out.
