The Cavaliers made their first pitch to keep LeBron James in town Thursday by selecting Alabama point guard Collin Sexton with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Sexton, a one-and-done with the Crimson Tide, averaged 19.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game last season.

James has the ability to opt out of his contract this offseason, thus becoming a free agent. Sexton serves a need as a true point guard, but he may not have a superstar to pass to next season.

Not known as a 3-point shooter, Sexton has the ability to put the ball on the floor, shoot and dish to open teammates.
