Mavericks forward Harrison Barnes will be sidelined for a while after he "tweaked" his hamstring in practice, coach Rick Carlisle said, via The Athletic.

Barnes likely will miss all of the preseason and is in danger of missing the start of the regular season, as well. There is no timeline set for his return.

Since arriving in Dallas two seasons ago, Barnes has been relatively healthy, missing just eight games in that time span.

Last season he averaged a career-high 18.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in 77 games.

The Mavericks are scheduled to open up the season Oct. 17 against the Suns.
