LaVar Ball claims he wasn't the one to leak information of Lonzo Ball's injury.
It was reported earlier this week that some in the Lakers organization believe that the injury news was leaked to the media by someone in Lonzo's camp in an effort to keep him from getting traded. But, his father, LaVar, says it wasn't him.
"I don't leak nothing. I always say what's on my mind, so you don't never see me saying, 'I think I should say this now and let it leak.' I don't do that," LaVar told TMZ.
Yahoo Sports reported June 29, Ball had a torn meniscus in his left knee. While he is expected to be ready for training camp, news of the injury certainly didn't help his trade value.
With Lonzo's name closely connected to trade rumors, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski explained Thursday why someone close to Lonzo may have wanted the information of his injury out in the public.
"That knee injury, I think there was a belief around the Lakers is that it was within his world that that got leaked out there to keep him from getting traded," Wojnarowski reported. "He doesn’t want to be traded from L.A. It wasn’t the Lakers who wanted information out on that knee injury.
"There were a lot of teams who were checking on possible deals with the Lakers. They wanted to know. There were a lot of questions about that knee."
LaVar Ball noted recently that if the Lakers traded Lonzo, it would be the "worst move they ever made."
