Remember all that talk in recent months about how there is no way the Lakers, or any other NBA team, will select LiAngelo Ball in the 2018 NBA Draft?

Well, the Lakers reportedly had a scout in the stands Thursday to watch Ball play for Prienu Vytautas against Nevezis in Kedainiai, Lithuania, according to Lithuanian reporter Donatas Urbonas.

Ball had 12 points (3-of-3 from behind the arc) in 18 minutes in the Vytautas win. Brother LaMelo has a back injury and did not play.

To be fair, another NBA prospect, 6-7 Tadas Sedekerskis, was also on the court for Nevezis. So don't read too much into this report. Stil, the Lakers may be just covering their bases, just in case they decide to bring Ball in at some point, possibly as a free agent.

LiAngelo Ball, of course, began the season with UCLA, but never played a game after being arrested for shoplifting during the team's trip to China for the preseason opener. LaVar Ball subsequently pulled LiAngelo out of UCLA, and had LiAngelo and LaMelo move to Lithuania to turn pro.
