The LeBron James era in Los Angeles has begun.

Nearly three months after signing him to a four-year contract worth $154 million, the Lakers formally introduced their star acquisition Monday at media day.

James discussed his move to the West Coast, saying he is "truly excited" and looking forward to learning from his teammates and coaches.

"It's just always humbling for me anytime I get the chance to be part of something special," James said.

When asked about his expectations entering his first season in Los Angeles, James said he isn't making any assumptions but fully intends to improve his game.

"My expectation is to get better every single day," James said. "I don't expect nothing. You work for what you want. It's all part of the process."

The 28 teams with Monday media days are scheduled to open training camp Tuesday.

The preseason begins Sept. 28 and the first game of the regular season is slated for Oct. 16.
