The Knicks are wasting no time as they search to replace Jeff Hornacek, who was fired from his coaching duties Thursday.
ESPN reports that the Knicks already have plans to meet with four candidates over the next two weeks. Among those on the list are David Fizdale, Mark Jackson, Jerry Stackhouse and David Blatt.
While those candidates are expected, another possible replacement that has emerged is Mike Woodson, who is former head coach of the Knicks and current assistant for the Clippers. The report also notes that New York received permission to talk to Woodson about the vacancy.
Woodson was fired by the Knicks in 2014 after leading the franchise for two seasons, but isn't expected to be a top candidate. However, he has already expressed interest in the position.
“I don’t want to hide the fact I’d love to be back,’’ Woodson told The New York Post in a phone interview before ESPN's report. “I’d like to finish what I started. At the end of the day, you want to come to New York, based on my body of work there. I want it to be mutual. I want them to want me. I hope they call me.’’
The Knicks have not had a winning season since 2012-13 when they went they went 54-28 under Woodson.
