The Kings want to improve their depth.

Sacramento is looking to acquire a veteran point guard to bring off the bench, according to a report from NBC Sports California, which cites unidentified league sources. The team may also explore dealing for a small forward, the report says.

The Kings have around $11 million in cap space and could be “incredibly active” before the Feb. 7 trade deadline, according to the report. They also have multiple expiring contracts, including big man Zach Randolph — who has yet to play this season — that can be moved in a deal.

Sacramento has already inquired about Hawks guard Jeremy Lin, according to an earlier report from the New York Times.

The Kings have been one of the most surprising teams in the NBA this season and entered play Wednesday a half-game out of the final Western Conference playoff spot with a 23-21 record.

They’ll face the Hornets in Charlotte on Thursday.
