Kawhi Leonard's desire to join the Lakers has only grown stronger with the signing of LeBron James.

According to ESPN, the Spurs star remains adamant about playing in Los Angeles after James signed a four-year contract worth $154 million with the Lakers.

Leonard initially requested a trade from San Antonio with the goal of eventually landing in Los Angeles, and now could have the opportunity to compete for a title in his hometown while playing alongside the superstar.

The Spurs are reportedly hoping to send him to an Eastern Conference team if they do decide to make a trade, and drew strong interest from a 76ers team that "badly wants" Leonard. The Spurs were rumored to have asked the Sixers for three future first-round picks and two current players in exchange for Leonard, though Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were not named in the trade.

Leonard, 27, has averaged 16.3 points and 6.2 rebounds over his seven-year career in San Antonio.
