Jimmy Butler is meeting with the Timberwolves this week to "have honest conversations" about his future with the team, according to the Athletic.

Butler has two years left on the five-year, $92 million deal he signed with the Bulls in 2015 before he was traded to the Timberwolves prior to last season. However, he has an opt out after this season and Minnesota still has some key decisions to make.

Star center Karl-Anthony Towns has still not signed the max extension the T-Wolves offered him this offseason and Butler turned down a four-year offer from Minnesota's four-year, as well, leaving the team with a lot of question marks moving forward.

According to The Athletic, the meeting between Butler and the Timberwolves this week will be about figuring out what the two parties want to do. He also reportedly wants to hear what head coach Tom Thibodeau's vision for the future. Butler started his career in Chicago while Thibodeau was coaching there.

Butler has repeatedly said he wants to be in the best place to win a championship and if the honest conversations with Minnesota reveal he does not believe he can do that with the Timberwolves, the team may consider trading him.

Butler averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists for Minnesota last season. Training camp begins in 10 days.
