It appears like Charlotte has found its next point guard.

The Hornets are signing Terry Rozier to a three-year, $58 million deal and will add him via a sign-and-trade, according to a report from The Athletic, which cites unidentified league sources.

Rozier, 25, averaged 9.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for the Celtics in 2018-19. But, he was disappointed with his role playing behind Kyrie Irving, who is expected to sign with the Nets.

"I sacrificed my talent the most," Rozier said on ESPN's First Take in May. "The ball was either in Kyrie or Gordon Hayward's hands most of the time, so I feel like Terry Rozier was just in the corner or on the bench."

That likely won't be the case in Charlotte, as it is losing its franchise player and star point guard, Kemba Walker.

An earlier report from The Athletic stated that Walker, 29, has agreed to a four-year, $141 million deal with Boston.

Walker had spent all eight seasons of his NBA career with the Hornets and said remaining in Charlotte was a "priority." He even said he was willing to take less than the supermax contract he qualified for in 2018-19. However, the Hornets' offer was reportedly lower than what Walker would have liked.

Walker averaged a career-high 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game in 2018-19 and made the All-NBA third team. He also made his third straight All-Star team.

Rozier has big shoes to fill and likely won't have much competition, as Tony Parker retired after last season.
