The Hornets have improved their guard depth.

Charlotte has claimed Shelvin Mack off waivers, according to a report from The Athletic, which cites unidentified league sources.

Mack was sent from the Grizzlies to the Hawks at the trade deadline. But Atlanta released him earlier this week. He is averaging 7.9 points in 22.7 minutes per game in 2018-19.

Charlotte was reportedly in talks with Memphis about acquiring Marc Gasol before the Feb. 7 trade deadline, but negotiations fell through. Instead it added Mack, who will join point guards Kemba Walker and Tony Parker.

The Hornets are seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 27-28 record and will play the Pacers on Monday.
