Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. bruised his shoulder after a scary fall in a preseason game against the Hornets on Tuesday.

The injury occurred when Jones landed awkwardly after attempting to put back a missed shot with 6:01 left in the second quarter.

Jones left the game and did not return. X-rays on his shoulder were negative, the team announced shortly after he was removed from the contest.

Jones has averaged 4.4 points in 52 games with the Suns and Heat over the last two seasons.

Miami fell to the Hornets 122-113. Big man Kelly Olynyk scored a team-high 18 points.
