The Hawks announced Monday point guard Dennis Schroder will be disciplined for his "unacceptable" behavior that led to his arrest on Sept. 29.
Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk said in a statement that the investigation into an alleged fight Schroder was involved in outside of a late-night restaurant is not complete, but the Hawks will "support Dennis as we would any of our players working through a situation."
Schlenk also acknowledged Schroder's behavior was "unacceptable" and something that will not be tolerated by their franchise. The Hawks will discipline their point guard, but Schlenk did not disclose a plan as they are waiting for the investigation to develop further.
"From our preliminary findings, we are aware that Dennis was involved in a physical altercation. That behavior is unacceptable, will not be tolerated by the Hawks organization, and will result in discipline for Dennis at the appropriate time once the matter has been more fully developed through the law enforcement process and otherwise.
"Dennis has accepted responsibility for his actions. He looks forward to learning from this incident and focusing on the season," the statement read.
The 24-year-old is in his fifth season in the NBA and is the top returning scorer on the Hawks, averaging 17.9 points and 6.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 78 starts.
