Gabrielle Union came to the defense of her husband Dwyane Wade in response to Paul Pierce's comments Friday in which he claimed he had a better career than the Heat star.

Union wrote in a series of Tweets on Saturday, in part: This Paul Pierce "thing is wrong on many obvious levels but what I find most troublesome is this idea of a man trying to diminish another man that looks like him, was raised like him, in order to shine a tad brighter. S— isnt entertaining, it's sad. ... We do not have to buy into the notion that there is only so much love, attention, resources, opportunities, respect to go around. This scarcity mindset is a trap. It keeps us all fighting amongst ourselves. Reject that s—."

Union's remarks come after the former NBA champion and current ESPN NBA analyst said his career was better than Wade's, adding if he got to team up with Shaquille O'Neal and LeBron James while playing in his prime, he'd be "sitting on five or six championships, easy."

Pierce's comments sparked a strong reaction from the NBA world, although Wade hasn't weighed in himself.
