DeMarcus Cousins is back on the court and playing with the Warriors after dealing with a torn Achilles, but he can't help but think of his time with the Pelicans.
Last season, Cousins and Anthony Davis showed potential to be the most powerful frontcourt duo in the league, but various other injuries, then the torn Achilles, ended Cousins' time in New Orleans.
"I think about our pairing all the time," Cousins said, via The Athletic. "Me and AD talk about it. It's f—ed up. It could've been something great, something special, but other people had different things in mind. That's out of our control, and you never know what'll happen later on down the line."
He wasn't re-signed during free agency in July, which Cousins said was a tough blow since he gave his all to the Pelicans. However, New Orleans didn't offer him any rehab treatments in the summer on top of letting him slip into free agency.
Cousins was averaging 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists with New Orleans before he ruptured his Achilles in January 2018.
Since joining the Warriors on the court two games ago, Cousins has been dominant on both ends of the court, even though his stats are lower.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans are 22-25 and Davis is sidelined with an injured finger.
