It's been an emotional couple of days for Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, who welcomed his first child to the world and then faced the tragedy of learning his half-brother had been shot.

Lillard returned to the lineup against the Clippers Friday after missing Wednesday's game for the birth of his son. He played after finding out his half-brother, Jahrell Lillard, was injured Thursday in a shooting at Portland-area mall.

Lillard described the series of events as "highs and lows" calling the birth of his son, Damian Houston Lillard, one of the best moments of his life.

"My son coming out and holding him, just having that experience. And then having to deal with a tragedy in the middle of it is unfortunate," Lillard told reporters (via The Oregonian).

Details of Jahrell's case are still developing as police investigate, but Lillard said his half-brother was shot five times. He added Jahrell is "doing fine" and is in stable condition.

"My No. 1 concern is his health and well-being," Lillard said. "Right now he's stable and doing fine. In a situation like this, you can't ask any more than that. You've got to let the authorities do their job."

Even with all the adversity, Lillard started for Portland and finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists in the team's 105-96 win over the Clippers.
