Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving is planning to be on the floor on Monday.
The 26-year-old has missed the Celtics' last two games after he scratched his eyes during the team's 120-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs last week.
Irving, however, said Sunday he was expecting to make his return in Boston's matchup with the Brooklyn Nets.
"[Eyes are] OK. Right eye had a scratch in it, left is just really inflamed, so just kind of waiting for it to kind of calm down," Irving told reporters, via NBC Sports Boston. "It's going to take time, but I'll be ready for [Monday]."
Irving suffered the injury when Marco Belinelli hit him in the face while chasing down a long rebound. The Boston guard said he thinks Belinelli scratched him by accident.
"I make my living with my eyes," Irving said. "My eyes are just one of the most important things that I need to play this game. [The right eye] was swollen, and there was light sensitivity after the initial hit. Watched it a few times, trying to figure out whether or not it was malicious or not, but I don't think it was.
"So, I'll let it go. But I got hit pretty good, and I'm just glad to get a few days rest, as well."
Irving is averaging 23.1 points and 6.6 assists in 32.3 minutes per game this season. He is shooting 48.8 per cent from the field and 40.8 per cent from three-point range.
The Celtics will enter their game against the Nets with a 23-15 record.
