Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving will likely be back on the court soon.

The 26-year-old guard is considered "day-to-day" with a strained right knee, the team announced on Sunday.

Irving originally suffered the injury in Boston's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

The Celtics blew a 28-point lead and fell 123-112 in that game. Irving scored 14 points in 14 minutes before exiting the matchup.

Irving is averaging 23.6 points and 6.9 assists in 32.5 minutes per game this season. He is shooting 49.8 per cent from the field and 40.9 per cent from three-point range.

The Celtics entered play on Sunday in fifth place of the Eastern Conference with a 35-21 record.

They will face the 76ers in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
