The Cleveland Cavaliers may be making a change to their starting lineup.
Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue said on Monday the team are considering opening game two of their Eastern Conference finals matchup against the Boston Celtics with Tristan Thompson at center.
The Cavs have started Kevin Love at center throughout the postseason. Lue said he would move Love to the power forward spot and insert Thompson into the lineup because of his past success guarding Celtics center Al Horford.
"Looking at the statistics, over the last three years with at least 30 [defensive] possessions, out of all the guys that have guarded Al Horford, Tristan is number one in the league defending [him]," Lue said. "So, that's a good thing."
Horford tallied 20 points and dished out six assists in Boston's 108-83 game-one victory. Lue said he had considered adjusting his starting lineup before the series started.
"We weighed it," Lue said about starting Thompson in game one. "But we'd won seven out of eight and we weren't going to adjust until someone beat us. We didn't play well [in game one] with that lineup that got us to this point."
Thompson played 21 minutes off the bench, finishing with eight points and 11 rebounds in game one.
The Celtics and Cavaliers will tip-off game two in Boston on Tuesday.
