Cavaliers point guard George Hill will face the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday. But first he received his diploma.

Hill graduated from IUPUI on Saturday and gave a speech a student speaker at the school’s commencement ceremony at Lucas Oil Stadium, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Hill, 32, is the first in his family to graduate from college, according to the Star’s report.

“It’s not about how long it took me, it’s about finishing the job," Hill told the Star. "It was definitely hard. There were a lot of papers I had to write toward the end of this year, tests I had to take, trying to find time in between practice and games to get those things done. It was tough, but I was so focused on getting it done because I put it off for so long."

An Indiana native, Hill averaged 17 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for IUPUI from 2004-08. He was selected 26th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Spurs, who sent him to the Pacers for Kawhi Leonard before the 2011-12 season.

Hill signed a three-year contract worth a report $57 million with the Kings last offseason but was acquired by Cleveland in a three-team trade in early February.

He has averaged 9.4 points and 2.8 assists in 24 games with the Cavs.
