Carmelo Anthony has suggested he would prefer to skip a potential appearance at the All-Star game amid a rocky time at the New York Knicks.
Anthony has been tipped as a potential replacement for the Cleveland Cavaliers' Kevin Love, who is suffering from a knee injury.
However, with the Knicks in dire form, the team president openly criticising him and Anthony at the centre of several trade rumours, the 32-year-old is hoping for a break from the court.
"I got plans," he was quoted by ESPN about filling in for the injured Love. "I would love to take this break and just utilize this break and my body and my mind and just get away from everything.
"I could utilize this break. If they call me I'd consider it. But I would love to utilize this break."
Other replacement options for love include Joel Embiid, providing he can get over his own injury problems, Anthony's team-mate Kristaps Porzingis or the Washington Wizards' Bradley Beal.
