With lawmakers unable to avoid a government shutdown, the Air Force Academy on Saturday announced the cancelation of its athletic events. Business appears to be as usual, however, at the Naval Academy.

“Due to the government shutdown, all Air Force Academy home and away intercollegiate athletic events have been canceled until further notice,” reads a statement posted on the Falcons’ website. “In the event a solution is reached, the Academy will work to reschedule as many missed events as possible.”

The Air Force basketball team was scheduled to host Fresno State on Saturday, and the hockey team was set to welcome Sacred Heart. The women’s basketball team already made the trip Fresno, but that game will not be played Saturday, per the Colorado Springs Gazette.

In anticipation of the shutdown, Air Force athletic officials sought exempt status for a large enough staff to keep playing. In an 11th hour decision Saturday morning, however, events were called off.

Navy’s sporting events, meanwhile, “will go on as scheduled, such as a men’s basketball game against Boston University on Saturday,” the Baltimore Sun reported.

There’s also this tweet indicating Navy’s women’s swim meet is still on.
