Joel Embiid has developed into one of the most dominant post players in the NBA. The only thing stopping him is his health.

A bad back has caused Embiid to miss nine games this season, and he's yet to play in back-to-back sets. But despite Philadelphia's cautious approach, Embiid is averaging a double-double (23.8 points and 10.8 rebounds) this season.

Embiid could soon become even more dominant because he stated Thursday that he hopes to be cleared for back-to-backs by the end of the month.

Selected No. 3 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, Embiid missed his entire rookie season with an injury. He has since taken the NBA by storm, proving true post players still have a place in the modern game.

He has helped the 76ers to a 20-20 record while hovering in playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.
