Ben Simmons' debut with the Philadelphia 76ers will have to wait for next season.
Team president Bryan Colangelo told reporters on Friday that the top pick in the 2016 NBA Draft is still recovering from a broken bone in his right foot, and will not play this campaign.
"I have to announce Ben Simmons is not playing this season," Colangelo said. "The scan indicated there's not full healing."
The Australian suffered the injury during the 76ers' final training camp scrimmage. He underwent surgery in early October to repair what is termed an acute Jones fracture in his fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
