Gandingan Ong Yew Sin-Tan Wee Kiong mencipta kejutan apabila mengungguli acara beregu lelaki Kejohanan Badminton Kebangsaan Celcom Axiata 2017 selepas menundukkan pasangan pilihan nombor dua kejohanan, Tan Chee Tean-Tan Wee Gieen 22-20, 21-18 di Ulu Kinta, Perak, hari ini.
Mereka mudah merakamkan kemenangan apabila hanya memerlukan tempoh selama 37 minit untuk mengungguli final berkenaan.
Kejutan turut dilakar oleh pemain wanita muda negara, M. Thinaah, selepas menundukkan pilihan keempat, Lim Yin Fun, 23-21 21-8.
Pasangan beregu campuran, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, terus mempamerkan prestasi memberangsangkan dengan menidakkan cabaran Chan Peng Soon-Chow Mei Kuan, untuk meraih gelaran juara hasil kemenangan 21-19, 16-21, 21-17 meskipun terpaksa berjuang lebih sejam.
Dalam acara perseorangan lelaki pula, Misbun Ramdan Misbun gagal mengatasi Lim Chi Wing apabila ditundukkan 21-19, 21-8.
Sementara itu, Vivian Hoo Kah Mun-Woon Khe Wei dipaksa memerah keringat sebelum berjaya mengatasi pilihan kedua kejohanan, Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean, 21-19 21-8 untuk dinobatkan sebagai juara.
