Kapten skuad badminton negara, Goh Soon Huat, mengingatkan rakan sepasukan agar tidak gentar dengan nama-nama besar yang membarisi pasukan China menjelang pertemuan suku akhir Kejohanan Badminton Berpasukan Campuran Asia di Pusat Sukan Nguyen Du Cultural, Bandaraya Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, malam ini.
Membariskan nama-nama seperti pasangan beregu campuran nombor satu dunia, Zheng Si Wei-Chen Qing Chen, perseorangan wanita yang menghuni ranking ke-10 dunia, He Bingjiao, dan pemenang pingat emas beregu lelaki Sukan Olimpik Rio, Zhang Nan, ia sedikit-sebanyak menghadirkan kegerunan buat lawan.
Justeru, Soon Huat tidak mahu rakan sepasukan terlalu memikirkan hal lawan, sebaliknya mempercayai kebolehan diri sendiri yang mampu menyaingi pemain handalan dunia.
"Selaku kapten, saya perlu memberi motivasi kepada rakan sepasukan. Kami perlu memberikan yang terbaik sehingga ke penghujung," katanya.
Sementara itu, seorang lagi wakil perseorangan lelaki negara, Lim Chi Wing, tidak sabar untuk berentap dengan lawan, Shi Yu Qi, yang kini menghuni ranking ke-12 dunia.
Bagi Chi Wing, tekanan terarah kepada barisan pemain China kerana mereka sudah pasti tidak mahu tewas kepada barisan muda negara.
"Gaya permainannya (Yu Qi) hampir sama dengan saya. Apa yang membezakan adalah siapa di antara kami yang mampu kekal konsisten," kata Chi Wing.
Malaysia yang muncul naib juara Kumpulan B diundi bertemu China selaku juara Kumpulan A bagi perebutan tempat ke separuh akhir.
