Goh V Shem meletakkan sasaran untuk mara sekurang-kurangnya ke separuh akhir Terbuka China bersama gandingannya, Tan Wee Kiong, bagi mencerahkan peluang untuk bergelar beregu lelaki nombor satu dunia sebelum penghujung tahun ini.
V Shem yang akan terbang ke Fuzhou, China, pada Ahad ini tidak menafikan sasaran untuk menjadi pasangan beregu nombor satu dunia menjadi beban tambahan yang perlu digalas dia dan Wee Kiong.
Dia menjelaskan mahu menilai terlebih dahulu aksi pada pusingan pertama bertemu pasangan China, Zhang Nan, yang kini digandingkan bersama Liu Cheng.
Jika dia berjaya melepasi ranjau awal bertemu beregu China itu, V Shem melihat peluang cerah buat mereka untuk mara hingga ke separuh akhir.
"Sebelum ini, di pusingan pertama Terbuka China dan Denmark, saya telah berdepan dengan Zhang Nan dan Liu Cheng.
"Saya harap dapat mengekalkan strategi apabila berdepan dengan mereka," jelas V Shem.
"Sasaran kami adalah untuk mara ke separuh akhir. Jika tidak, ranking dunia kami tidak dapat diperbaiki."
Tambah V Shem, dia dan Wee Kiong perlu meraih sekurang-kurangnya satu gelaran daripada dua kejohanan terakhir tahun ini, sama ada Terbuka China atau Hong Kong.
Ia mampu mencerahkan peluang mereka muncul beregu nombor satu dunia sebelum beraksi dalam final Siri Super yang berlangsung di Dubai dari 14 hingga 18 Disember depan.
"Kalau di China dan Hong Kong kami dapat layak ke separuh akhir, saya harap kami boleh meraih ranking nombor satu dunia.
"Tekanan tetap ada, saya harap kami sendiri dapat menanganinya dengan baik."
