Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, masih merahsiakan bentuk bantuan daripada kerajaan kepada Datuk Lee Chong Wei yang sedang berjuang dengan kanser hidung sambil berharap rakyat Malaysia terus mendoakan jaguh badminton negara itu.
Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS) sudah menghubungi Chong Wei yang baru menamatkan rawatan di Taiwan.
Beberapa bentuk bantuan sudah difikirkan, namun Syed Saddiq berpendapat ini bukan masa yang sesuai untuk mendedahkannya kepada umum.
"Chong Wei masih bersemangat untuk kembali beraksi dan berkhidmat untuk negara. Dia pernah mengatasi juara dunia, jadi saya yakin dia mampu mengatasi kanser ini," kata Syed Saddiq.
Chong Wei akan pulang ke tanah air dalam tempoh kurang daripada dua minggu dan apa yang pasti, dia berhasrat untuk terus mewakili negara menjelang Sukan Olimpik Tokyo 2020 walaupun misi itu dilihat sukar dicapai.
Sementara itu, Syed Saddiq mengumumkan rancangan membina pusat e-sukan di Klang menerusi kerjasama syarikat penerbangan tambah murah, AirAsia.
