Despite not being part of Malaysia's Uber Cup squad, Woon Khe Wei said she would give her full support to the national team.

The women's doubles specialist did not take part in any competitive action since February due to an ankle injury, prompting the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) not to include her for the tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the 29-year-old's absence, her regular partner, Vivian Hoo, teamed up with Chow Mei Kuan to clinch a Commonwealth Games gold medal in April, and the pair is expected to link up again.

"This is the first time I will not be joining the team for the Uber Cup," she told Astro Arena.

"Yes, I am a little disappointed, but I will give my support and hope our team will win."

Malaysia have yet to taste success at the Uber Cup, with their best performance coming in 2010 when they reached the quarter-finals.

For Woon, it is not impossible for Malaysia to progress from Group D consisting of defending champions China, three-time winners Indonesia and France.

"I believe Malaysia will play well. It will be difficult, but I feel we can provide a challenge to other countries," she added.

The 2018 Uber Cup will be played from March 21 to 27.
