Pasangan adik-beradik ini tumpas straight set 21-10, 21-9 kepada beregu Jerman, Isabel Herttrich dan Carla Nelte dalam perlawanan yang berlangsung selama 24 minit.
"Kami agak gementar menghadapi perlawanan ini kerana tiba lewat di England, kekurangan masa untuk memanaskan badan punca kami tewas dalam perlawanan ini," kata Pey Zhen.
Satu lagi wakil profesional negara, Sannatasah Saniru yang bergandingan dengan Nadia Frankhauser dari Switzerland dalam acara beregu wanita, melangkah ke pusingan pertama apabila menundukkan gandingan India, Aswini Ponnapa dan N. Sikki Reddy, 21-15, 18-21, 21-18.
"Di awal permainan, saya agak tergesa-gesa untuk meraih mata. Kemudian saya berjaya membiasakan diri dengan gaya permainan lawan sebelum kami meraih kemenangan. Kami akan berusaha memberikan yang lebih baik dalam perlawanan akan datang," kata Sannatasah.
Terdahulu dalam aksi kelayakan pertama, mereka turut menewaskan gandingan England, Evie Burbidge dan Elizabeth McMorrow, 21-16, 21-16.
