Jurulatih beregu lelaki negara, Jeremy Gan, memberi peringatan kepada anak buahnya, Goh V Shem dan Tan Wee Kiong, agar tidak terlalu selesa dengan kedudukan nombor satu dunia kerana ia boleh digugat oleh pemain lawan dalam pusingan pertama Kejohanan Badminton Seluruh England, esok.
Jeremy melahirkan kegusaran itu memandangkan kebanyakan lawan sudah tidak sabar untuk menewaskan sandaran negara itu bagi mencipta kejutan dalam kejohanan.
Turun sebagai pilihan utama kejohanan, ditambah dengan status sebagai beregu lelaki nombor satu dunia, tekanan tinggi diletakkan pada bahu V Shem dan Wee Kiong untuk menjelmakan kejayaan.
"Saya rasa mereka mesti bersedia tidak kira siapa lawan kerana, walaupun kini berada pada ranking nombor satu, mereka tidak boleh menganggap prestasi mereka selalu tinggi. Setiap lawan ada kelebihan masing-masing," kata Jeremy.
Bagi pihak V shem dan Wee Kiong, mereka sudah bersedia daripada aspek mental dan meletakan di tepi semua gelaran itu apabila melangkah masuk ke dalam gelanggang, esok.
Ditanya mengenai lawan mereka pada pusingan pertama, Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi, mereka masih samar-samar dengan gaya permainan gandingan Jepun itu memandangkan tidak pernah bertemu sebelum ini.
Tetapi V Shem dan Wee Kiong sudahpun melakukan analisa video bersama jurulatih mereka bagi mengkaji strategi pihak lawan.
"Tahap permainan mereka sudah naik. Mungkin mereka banyak menyertai kejohanan berstatus Siri Super. Saya harap kami dapat melakukan yang terbaik," kata V Shem.
