Kejayaan layak ke final sebelum tumbang di tangan China dalam saingan berpasukan campuran ibarat permulaan baik buat Malaysia.
Bagaimanapun, sebaliknya yang terjadi apabila pemain sendiri mengundang tekanan memuncak menjadi sebahagian daripada aksi mereka dalam saingan individu.
Ini termasuk juara bertahan, Goh Jin Wei, sehingga mengalami kecederaan dalam aksi penentuan ke suku akhir.
Dalam saingan perseorangan lelaki, Lee Zii Jia, begitu hampir ke final sebelum kegopohan dan beban menjadi harapan terakhir Malaysia dalam kejohanan itu, memakan diri.
"Saya rasa prestasi keseluruhan memuaskan tetapi kalau boleh masuk final adalah lebih baik. Saya rasa Zii Jia mempunyai bakat sebagai pemain masa depan kerana sikap dan disiplinnya yang baik.
"Dia perlu memperbaiki sedikit teknik, bagaimanapun, itu bukan masalah yang besar. Dia akan menjadi pemain yang lebih baik selepas ini," kata jurulatih skuad remaja negara, Kwan Yoke Meng.
Salah satu sandaran positif adalah bakat yang berada di luar program Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) seperti pemain beregu, Chen Tang Jie.
Ini membuktikan kelab profesional di Malaysia sudah mula membuahkan hasil dengan BAM perlu menyerap barisan pemain ini ke dalam skuad kebangsaan atau meneruskan kerjasama memperinci bakat mereka.
