Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) menerima realiti pahit andai pemain naungan mereka gagal membawa pulang sebarang kejuaraan di pentas elit dunia musim ini.
Terbuka Denmark bertaraf Super 750 di bawah kalendar Jelajah Persekutuan Badminton Dunia (BWF) yang berakhir semalam menyaksikan skuad kebangsaan meneruskan aksi hambar.
Peluang pemain naungan BAM untuk menebus maruah di pentas 750 itu diteruskan dalam Terbuka Perancis minggu ini dan yang terakhir Terbuka China di Fuzhou awal bulan depan.
Malaysia sudah terlepas peluang untuk mencabar kejuaraan bertaraf Super 1000 dengan paling hampir, gandingan Aaron Chia dan Soh Wooi Yik yang tewas dalam aksi final Seluruh England.
Tamparan hebat buat BAM sudah pasti pencapaian dua wakil profesional, beregu lelaki Tan Wee Kiong-Goh V Shem serta Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying yang membawa pulang beberapa kejuaraan terbuka Super 300.
"Sememangnya BAM mahukan pemain meraih kejuaraan utama tetapi kami masih lagi dalam proses menyusun semula daripada setiap aspek daripada persiapan atlet dan pihak pengurusan. Masih terdapat beberapa kejohanan yang bakal disertai dan kami perlu menjangkakan kemungkinan yang perlu dihadapi," kata Setiausaha Agung BAM, Datuk Kenny Goh.
