Malaysia diundi sekumpulan dengan China dan India untuk edisi kali ini.
Berdasarkan ranking dunia dan prestasi semasa, skuad negara memerlukan keajaiban untuk menidakkan China.
Ini bermakna satu-satunya peluang untuk Malaysia ke suku akhir adalah untuk menang ke atas India dan kelebihan Malaysia dalam acara beregu lelaki, wanita dan campuran adalah tunjang untuk memastikan objektif mereka tercapai.
"Secara peribadi, Malaysia perlu mengatasi India dan ia adalah cabaran skuad negara dalam Piala Sudirman.
"Kami akan melakukan perancangan yang rapi dalam memastikan kemenangan mampu diraih, sekali gus menghidupkan peluang melangkah ke suku akhir," kata Pengarah Kejurulatihan Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Wong Choong Hann.
