Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) menerima satu lagi pukulan apabila pasangan beregu campuran, Chan Peng Soon dan Goh Liu Ying, meninggalkan pasukan kebangsaan itu.
Pemenang pingat perak Olimpik Rio 2016 itu mengemukakan permohonan untuk berundur daripada pasukan berkenaan mulai 1 Januari ini, kata BAM dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.
"BAM ingin merakamkan ucapan setinggi-tinggi terima kasih dan penghargaan kami kepada pemenang pingat perak Olimpik 2016 itu, yang memainkan peranan besar dalam pembangunan dan kemajuan acara beregau campuran di Malaysia.
"BAM mengucapkan selamat maju jaya dalam apa jua langkah yang mereka ambil pada masa akan datang," kata kenyataan itu.
Peng Soon menyertai BAM pada 2006 manakala Liu Ying pada 2017 dan antara pencapaian bersejarah mereka semasa bersama pasukan kebangsaan itu ialah memenangi pingat emas Kejohanan Badminton Asia 2010 serta pingat emas acara beregu campuran Sukan Komanwel New Delhi 2010 dan Sukan Komanwel Glasgow 2014.
Sebelum ini, beberapa pemain meninggalkan pasukan kebangsaan itu dengan memberi pelbagai alasan. Mereka termasuk Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin, Tee Jing Yi, Chooi Kah Ming dan Lim Khim Wah.
