Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying failed in their bid to secure their second title of the season after falling short in the final of the Australian Open on Sunday.

The Malaysian mixed doubles pair, who won the Thailand Masters in January, were beaten by South Korea's Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yujung 12-21, 21-23 in the final held at the Quaycentre in Sydney.

In other events, China won the men's and women's singles titles, while Indonesia and Japan were victorious in the men's doubles and women's doubles respectively.

Young Chinese shuttler Lu Guangzu won the men's singles title by defeating fellow compatriot Zhou Zeqi 21-18, 23-21, while Cai Yanyan bagged the women's singles title by beating Ayumi Mine of Japan 21-14, 21-13.

The top seed pair of Berry Angriawan and Hardianto Hardianto claimed the men's doubles title by edging fellow Indonesians Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pangkaryanira and Ade Yusuf Santoso 21-9, 9-21, 21-15.

The Japanese pair of Ayako Sakuramoto and Yukiko Takahata, who were seeded second, overcame Baek Ha Na and Lee Yu Rim of South Korea 23-21, 21-18 in the women's doubles.
