Susulan pelantikan sebagai ketua jurulatih beregu lelaki Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Paulus Firman berpandangan ini bukan waktu untuk tunjuk siapa lebih berkuasa tetapi untuk sama-sama memulihkan prestasi skuad berkenaan.
Paulus mengambil alih portfolio berkenaan daripada Cheah Soon Kit yang kini beralih untuk membimbing skuad muda negara.
Keputusan itu dibuat Jawatankuasa Kejurulatihan dan Latihan (C&T) BAM, semalam.
"Semua pihak mahukan mereka menjadi hebat.
"Yang pasti, kami akan buat yang terbaik untuk beregu lelaki, bukan setakat pemain senior sahaja.
"Malah, prestasi pelapis juga harus menjelmakan prestasi yang lebih bagus lagi," katanya ketika ditemui di Akademi Badminton Malaysia, Bukit Kiara, sebentar tadi.
Setahun di bawah kepimpinan Soon Kit, muncul bakat muda berkualiti seperti Aaron Chia-Soh Woi Yik dan Goh Sze Fei-Izzudin Rumsani.
Begitupun, prestasi barisan elit diketuai Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong terus menjadi tanda tanya.
