Presiden Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria, yakin pemain nombor satu dunia, Kento Momota, tidak akan serik untuk datang semula ke Malaysia dan menyerahkan kepada pihak berkuasa untuk mencari punca sebenar kemalangan yang menimpa jaguh dunia itu.
Semalam, Norza menjelaskan kesemua mangsa telah memberikan keterangan kepada Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) dan kini menyerahkan kepada pihak berkuasa untuk siasatan lanjut bagi mengetahui punca sebenar kemalangan yang berlaku kelmarin itu.
Kemalangan itu menyebabkan pemandu, B. Nageswarau, terbunuh di tempat kejadian selain tiga penumpang, termasuk Momota, mengalami kecederaan ringan.
Pagi tadi, dia bersama dua lagi mangsa yang terlibat, Yu Hirayama dan Morimoto Arkifumi, selamat pulang ke Jepun setelah mendapat pelepasan keluar daripada Hospital Putrajaya lewat malam semalam.
"Sebab itu kami membiarkan penyiasatan dijalankan. Terdapat beberapa pihak terlibat seperti polis dan bomba. Usah buat sebarang spekulasi sehingga penyiasatan selesai," kata Norza.
Dalam masa sama, beliau turut berhubung dengan ketua jurulatih Jepun, Park Joo Bong, untuk rawatan susulan yang diperlukan Momota bersama dua lagi pegawai terlibat di samping yakin pemain itu akan kembali pada Mac depan untuk beraksi dalam Terbuka Malaysia.
"Saya telah memaklumkan kepada Momota dan seluruh pasukannya bahawa saya sangat sedih dengan apa yang berlaku. Saya harapkan dia cepat sembuh dan dapat sertai Terbuka Malaysia."
