Things are looking rosy for SEA Games gold medalist Lee Zii Jia, who was announced as 100Plus ambassador just before getting his first tournament of the year underway at the Malaysia Masters on Wednesday.

The isotonic brand signed a two-year deal with the men’s singles shuttler, who now follows in the footsteps of Lee Chong Wei as an ambassador.

"100Plus is a big brand and I want to work hard to repay their faith in me.

I hope to start delivering the desired results on court, and to have a long term collaboration with them," Zii Jia said after the announcement ceremony on Monday.

Chong Wei, who was also present at the event, said both Zii Jia and 100Plus would benefit from this partnership.

"100Plus has been with me through thick and thin, and I’m happy to see them now put their faith in a promising shuttler like Zii Jia. I am sure this will be a successful partnership," Chong Wei said.

Zii Jia takes on world number four Anders Antonsen in the opening round of the Malaysia Masters on Wednesday with a mission to overturn two consecutive losses to the talented Dane.

"It will be tough against him, but with the backing of 100Plus and the home crowd, I am confident of beating him," added Zii Jia.

A good outing in his first event of the year could push the world number 14 closer towards the top 10.

Should he manage to overcome Antonsen, Zii Jia will go on to face either India’s Sameer Verma or Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen in the second round.

Liew Daren, meanwhile, will have to navigate his way from the qualifiers to reach the main draw of the men’s singles.

The 32-year-old will play India’s Subhankar Dey in the first round qualifiers on Tuesday.
