Malaysian mixed doubles star Goh Liu Ying has received a green light from the National Sports Institute (ISN) to participate in the 2018 Asian Games.

The 2016 Rio Olympic silver medalist, who partners Chan Peng Soon, picked up an Achilles tendon injury in the BWF World Championships quarter-finals in Nanjing, China, where they lost to Hong Kong's Tang Chung Man and Tse Ying Suet.

Despite an initial concern of her missing the Games in Indonesia later this month, national mixed doubles head coach Pang Cheh Chang confirmed her participation would not be an issue.

"I have received the report from the ISN that it is just a minor injury. She can play in the Asian Games," he said.

"For now, I think her training will be gentle and according to her recovery rate. It is not a serious injury and there is nothing that says she cannot play.

"However, as a badminton player, she needs to monitor her situation. We will try to reduce the injury level."
