Dua pilihan utama negara dalam Kejohanan Badminton Remaja Dunia 2016, Lee Zii Jia dan Goh Jin Wei, ibarat tidak perlu mengerah keringat untuk melepasi pusingan kedua selepas mudah menewaskan lawan masing-masing dalam aksi perseorangan di Bilbao, Sepanyol, lewat malam tadi.
Dua pemain yang memperoleh laluan percuma dalam pusingan pertama itu turun menentang lawan dari Jerman, bermula dengan Zii Jia menentang Brian Holtschke.
Zii Jia menepati status sebagai pilihan kedua kejohanan apabila mudah mengawal rentak permainan untuk menewaskan Holtschke 21-8, 21-8 dalam masa 21 minit.
"Saya memiliki permulaan yang baik, saya juga berada di tahap yang terbaik untuk menghadapi perlawanan akan datang,” kata Zii Jia.
Sementara itu, Jin Wei, yang dalam misi mempertahankan kejuaraan, turut memulakan kempen dengan langkah kanan.
Pemain berusia 16 tahun itu mengambil masa 22 minit untuk menewaskan Miranda Wilson 21-9, 21-11.
“Saya dapat bermain dengan baik selepas berehat selama satu hari. Saya perlu mempertingkatkan permainan untuk perlawanan akan datang,” kata Jin Wei.
