Kehadiran jurulatih beregu negara, Cheah Soon Kit, dalam Kejohanan Badminton Remaja Dunia memberikan wakil beregu lelaki perincian lebih baik dalam menghadapi pencabar berstatus pilihan.
Soon Kit tidak bersama skuad negara ketika saingan berpasukan campuran kerana memantau perkembangan beregu senior dalam Cabaran Antarabangsa Indonesia, minggu lalu.
Kini, kehadiran Soon Kit di Bilbao, Sepanyol disifatkan sebagai tepat pada waktunya dengan beregu negara memerlukan bimbingannya, terutama Ameer Zainuddin dan Hoo Pan Rong, yang akan berdepan pilihan kelima dari Perancis dalam pusingan ketiga.
"Saya sudah dapat membiasakan diri dengan gelanggang dan persekitaran. Bermain dalam pusingan ketiga, sudah pasti ia akan menjadi lebih sukar kerana kami 'underdog' tetapi kami akan bermain sahaja," kata Pang Ron.
"Kehadiran Soon Kit banyak membantu sebab dia juga jurulatih kami sendiri. Keserasian saya dan dia lebih baik berbanding jurulatih lain," jelas Ameer.
Dalam pusingan kedua, Ameer dan Pang Rong menewaskan beregu Latvia, Kristaps Kalnins dan Niks Podosinoviks, 21-8,21-8.
Sementara itu, satu lagi wakil harapan Malaysia dalam kategori ini, Chen Tang Jie dan Man Wei Chong, turut melepasi halangan pusingan kedua dengan mudah.
"Saya berasa lebih baik selepas bermain dua perlawanan minggu lalu, bagaimanapun esok saya akan berikan segala-galanya kerana berjumpa wakil Korea Selatan," kata Wei Chong.
Menanti mereka selepas ini adalah wakil Korea Selatan, Lee Hong Sub dan Lim Su Min.
