Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif (CEO), Purple League, Datuk Jack Koh, menegaskan pengenalan format baru saingan musim ini adalah untuk menarik lebih ramai peminat di samping menjadikan kejohanan lebih mencabar buat semua pasukan.
Walaupun pengenalan had masa 30 minit dalam permainan dilihat memberikan kesukaran kepada pemain untuk menyesuaikan diri, Jack berkata, ia diwujudkan untuk membuatkan kejohanan berkenaan lebih menarik.
"Kami tidak melihat ia sempurna lagi. Kami akan cuba membuatkannya lebih baik dan sudah tentu kami akan memperbaikinya. Jika anda lihat, kami tidak memberhentikan jam terutama ketika waktu rehat.
"Kami mungkin akan membuat sedikit perubahan, termasuk beberapa peraturan untuk membuat kejohanan ini lebih kompetitif," katanya.
Sementara itu, jurulatih pasukan Kelab Badminton Petaling, Yap Kim Hock, tidak mahu format baru itu dijadikan alasan untuk pemainnya gagal beraksi baik.
Tambah Kim Hock, format baru itu juga menuntut setiap pasukan untuk merancang taktik, strategi yang ampuh dan bukan lagi bergantung kepada kemampuan pemain semata-semata.
"Kita selalu mesti ikut perubahan. Jadi, ini menjadi cabaran buat pemain. Jika mahu menjadi juara, anda perlu menyesuaikan diri dengan perkara seperti ini," katanya.
Purple League musim ini memperkenalkan format baru dengan aksi lima set dimainkan dalam tempoh hanya 30 minit.
