Perseorangan profesional lelaki negara, Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin, terkilan dengan bekas rakan skuad kebangsaan yang enggan memanfaatkan peluang menjadi penerus legasi Datuk Lee Chong Wei menjelang kempen penting seperti Piala Sudirman.
Lima bulan selepas Iskandar meninggalkan kem kebangsaan, hanya Lee Zii Jia yang mengambil kesempatan penuh mengisi kekosongan sebagai pengaruh utama.
Selain Chong Wei, dua pemain terbaik kem kebangsaan, Soong Joo Ven berada di ranking ke-73 dunia dan Cheam June Wei ke-82 dunia.
Ini pandangan Iskandar terhadap perkembangan semasa membabitkan perseorangan lelaki negara dan juga kemungkinan dia dibariskan sebagai taruhan dalam Piala Sudirman.
"Piala Sudirman harus diutamakan kepada barisan pemain muda negara kerana ia adalah pendedahan yang baik buat mereka," katanya.
Bekas perseorangan negara, Ismail Saman, lebih tegas dalam menawarkan perspektif apabila melabel skuad tradisi badminton Malaysia ini sebagai "tenat".
"Kami perlu menerima realiti bahawa Chong Wei semakin hampir dengan persaraan. Bahagian perseorangan negara sangat tenat dan Zii Jia perlu berusaha dengan lebih keras untuk mencapai tahap yang lebih tinggi," kata Ismail.
