Pemain perseorangan negara, Iskandar Zulkarnain, positif dia mampu mencapai misi untuk berada dalam kelompok 20 terbaik dunia sebelum berakhirnya tahun 2016.
Iskandar kini menduduki ranking ke-28 dunia dan yakin masih ada masa untuknya melonjak ke ranking 20 terbaik dengan menyertai beberapa lagi kejohanan yang berbaki sebelum akhir tahun.
Selepas impiannya untuk beraksi dalam Piala Thomas tercapai, dia turut positif sasaran memperbaiki ranking dapat dilunaskan sambil menyifatkan prestasinya kini bertambah baik yang turut dibantu oleh jaguh badminton negara, Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
“Saya masih belum berpuas hati dengan pencapaian tahun ini. Walaupun telah beraksi dalam Piala Thomas, sasaran saya seterusnya adalah untuk berada dalam kelompok 20 terbaik dunia sebelum tahun 2016 berakhir. Ini merupakan persiapan buat saya untuk melayakkan diri ke Kejohanan Dunia,” kata Iskandar.
Selepas kurang menyerlah dalam Siri Super Terbuka Jepun dan Korea bulan lalu, Iskandar bertekad untuk menebus kembali duka di Terbuka Denmark dan Perancis nanti.
Dia berharap kali ini dia mampu untuk melangkah sekurang-kurangnya ke pusingan suku akhir.
“Saingan di Siri Super agak sukar kerana kami perlu berdepan ramai pemain yang berkualiti dan setiap perlawanan kami harus memberikan aksi yang terbaik.”
