Sedang skuad badminton negara bersiap-sedia untuk menghadapi Kejohanan Badminton Campuran Asia di Vietnam, 14 Februari ini, pemain perseorangan negara, Iskandar Zulkarnain, dan pemain beregu campuran, Tan Kian Meng, terpaksa disishkan pada saat-saat akhir kerana kecederaan.
Perkara ini disahkan sendiri oleh Timbalan Presiden, Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria.
Iskandar -- yang dijangka pulih sebelum kejohanan bermula -- terpaksa disisihkan ekoran kecederaan belakang manakala Kian Meng disahkan mengalami kecederaan kaki.
Pengganti mereka akan diputuskan dalam satu mesyuarat malam ini sebelum skuad negara berlepas ke Vietnam esok.
"Kami sudah ada menyediakan pilihan kedua bagi mengisi slot pemain perseorangan dan beregu campuran.
"Itu terletak pada bahu Pengarah Teknikal, Morten Frost, bagi mengenal pasti siapakah yang akan mengisi slot yang ditinggalkan Iskandar dan Kiat Meng," jelas Norza.
Sementara itu, tinjauan Nadi Arena hari ini menyaksikan pemain badminton nombor satu negara, Datuk Lee Chong Wei, kembali menjalani latihan di Akademi Badminton Malaysia selepas dilaporkan mengalami kecederaan lutut kiri, Sabtu lalu.
Chong Wei, bagaimanapun, dipantau rapi oleh pasukan perubatan Institut Sukan Negara (ISN).
Kecederaan tersebut mengesahkan Chong Wei akan terlepas aksi di Seluruh England, bulan depan.
